Elizabeth

The crown prominently featured in many of the photographs has a name, Elizabeth. Originally purchased at an antique store by Hondo’s niece Merrilee Schuele in 1971 for the very first Ladies State Chili Championship. “Elizabeth” lives in a wood and glass case built by the 1991 winner, Sue Morgan of Irving.
